Rock Am Ring -Nürburgring, Germany – June 1-3

Line up highlights: Alexisonfire, Babymetal, Foo Fighters, Enter Shikari and…well most of it really

This is a festival that knows how to put on a bloody good line up with previous headliners include: Rammstein, System of a Down, The Prodigy, Foo Fighters, Slipknot and nearly every year Die Toten Hosen. This year is certainly no different with the line up bursting with huge names such as: Foo Fighters, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Muse, Gorillaz and Avenged Sevenfold just to name a few. This is a festival that makes dream line ups a reality

Novarock – Nickelsdorf, Austria – June 14-17

Line up highlights: Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, Limp Bizkit, Stone Sour, Parkway Drive

Next up we head to Austria for some pure rock goodness with some truly hard rocking headliners in A7X, Volbeat and Iron Maiden and the rest of the line up is jam packed full of gems that are always worth seeing at any festival. This one almost feels like it’s the Download Festival of Austria.

Wacken Open Air – Wacken, Germany – August 2-4

Line up highlights: Steel Panther, Converge, Hatebreed, In Flames, Judas Priest

One for all the metal heads out there at quite possibly the holy land of metal as Wacken brings together one of the heaviest festivals around. If you can read some of the band name logos then you are destined for this festival.

Sweden Rock Festival – Sölvesborg, Sweden – June 6-9

Line up highlights: Ozzy Osbourne, Stone Sour, The Darkness, Iron Maiden, Skindred

Well these headliners are a tad special, with Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne and Judas Priest taking up the top spots on this festival, there is a plethora of nostalgia and big tunes coming from each one of these bands, the rest of the line up isn’t too shabby either which includes just about every genre of rock music going.

NOS Alive festival – Lisbon, Portugal – 12-14 July

Line up highlights: Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam, Jack White

Our next stop on our tour of festivals comes from Lisbon, Portugal and NOS Alive festival, this little treat of a festival brings together such a diverse range of music but the highlights are very much the headline slots with Arctic Monkeys. QOTSA and Pearl Jam all making appearances, this will be a very special few days.

Rock Werchter – Werchter, Belgium – July 5-8

Line up highlights: Pearl Jam, Jack White, Stereophonics, At the Drive In, Gorillaz

One of the lighter going festivals especially in comparison to a festival like Wacken, this one still packs a punch with the duo of Pearl Jam and Jack White cropping up again and with the likes of QOTSA and Gorillaz also on the line up this is set to be one which will have music for all tastes.

Hellfest Open Air – Clisson, France – June 22-24

Line up highlights: Iron Maiden, Deftones, Parkway Drive, Marilyn Manson, Limp Bizkit

Now to go completely to the other side of the spectrum from Rock Werchter, if you want a spectacle of a metal festival then look no further than Hellfest, a fairly solid line up with Iron Maiden, A7X and Judas Priest headlining the festival also boasts over 150 more bands so you are more than likely going to discover something new at this one.

Warped Tour – Japan and America – March – August

Line up TBC

We would be remiss if we didn’t include one of the biggest travelling festivals on the planet and sadly, this year will be the last Warped ever. This is one, growing up you would dream of going to one day, especially if you lived outside of America. It would often include some of the best Pop-punk bands going and i’m sure whenever they announce this year’s last tour line up it will be special. This is one travelling festival that will be missed.

So, there you have it, some of the biggest festivals around the globe right now, i’m sure we have missed some off that deserve to be on this list but for now, this will do.

Download confirm 1st headline

Well…This is one we didn’t predict happening…

The one and only, Ozzy Osbourne is coming back to Donington for one more night.

This will be a part of his monster of a farewell world tour which will last into 2020. Kicking off in 2018 in Mexico and South America to then doing a six week stint in Europe headlining shows and festivals such as Download along the way. More details on this epic world tour is yet to be revealed but he is definitely going out in style.

Fans of the Prince of Darkness who for whatever reason will miss him on his world tour, then don’t fret, as Osbourne has gone on to say “This will be my final world tour, but I can’t say I won’t do some shows here and there.”
