Well this is a strange one to add to the list of odd things pressed into vinyl.
IDLES singer Joe Talbot has gone out of his way to devote a lot of the band’s work to his late mother, with the front cover of their album Brutalism having her photo featured on it, as well as plenty of meaningful lyrics in tribute to his mother.
But this wasn’t enough…
On a limited 100 vinyl run, Joe Talbot has pressed some of his mother’s ashes into the vinyl in order to symbolize just how much she meant to him and how important she was to the album, they have also released a small documentary of the record being pressed which will be available from October 30th.
Joe Talbot posted this on the band’s FB page:
“Our music has saved us in many ways.
My old dear didn’t have the luxury of finding something that could save her; I’ve had her ashes pressed into 100 vinyl to symbolise just how important she was to this album, to this band and of course to me and my drive to exist in the most loving and honest me.
We strive to make music that invigorates people to express themselves freely without prejudice or mockery. Now you can see that we’ve put everything into our art so that maybe you can too. Don’t go gentle.
All is love.
Available to purchase from our Big Cartel from 30 October 2017.”
